The car had nearly $15k worth of work completed about 6 months before purchase. Most of the non-standard items listed below are included in that number, but there was also a significant amount of maintenance, including all new wear components in the suspension, wheel hubs, front calipers, all discs and pads, brake MC, clutch MC, carbs rebuilt, rebuilt passenger side window mechanism, and more. One of the surprises when going through the records was the car’s weight when it was corner balanced. Published weights for the FHC seem to vary from 1540 lb to over 1550 lb. This car weighed just 1513 lb, which is less than 300 lb heavier than the Westfield. Thinking through the various upgrades, the weight seemed more reasonable: alloy vs. steel tank, compact gel cell vs. lead acid, small alternator vs. generator, mild steel header vs. cast iron manifold, tubeless tires, no jack, no radio or speakers. I’ve since removed the spare tire and replaced it with an air compressor and bottle of Slime, and added a lighter tubular front ARB for a net savings of 29 lb. Unfortunately changing from the 10 year old, rock hard, tubeless M&S tires that came with the car to Michelin XAS FF tube-type tires clawed back 16 lb of that savings. Certainly not optimal, but the Michelins have transformed the car so it's a worthwhile tradeoff.
